Training and
Development is a core responsibility of Human Resource Management Department. This
programs basically design according to the requirement of the Organization and
both the activities important to enhance the productivity and performance of
the employee.
Fundamental
goals of several employee development programs are to deliver the mission of
the organization and support workers to learn the culture of the organization
(Gerbman , 2000)
What is
Training
Training is a
program which help employees to improve their present skills & knowledge to
improve their current job. Training will help employee to gain knowledge about latest technology, new practice and this will help them to refresh their knowledge
and skills as well.
Some of common
type of training methods are Induction training, Vest ,E -learning, Instructor
led training hands on training, Job training, Promotional training and Internship
training.
This can organize
as On the Job or Off the Job method.
According to
the Mel Kleiman (2000), that the important parts of a worthy employee training
program are constructed on orientation, management skills, and operational
skills of employees.
What is Development
Development is
more expansive and mainly focuses, gradually on employee growth and future
performance rather than immediate job role.
Development is
not only limited a specific task, but it always targets to improve their
personality and attitude for their around growth which will help them to
overcome from the future challenges as well.
The primary
intention of the development program is to prepared a secondary set of Managers
or Executive for future replacement of organization.
Some method of
development programs are , coaching, mentoring,
counselling, job rotation, role playing, case study and conference training.
Employers
cannot make promise with employees for their job security, but they provide
them opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills, so that they can
remain sustain in job market (Moses, 1999)

ReplyDeleteThe employees need to be empowered with relevant training to the trade to keep them updated with the current trends which is happening in the Private sector. The training opportunities in public sector is limited and not appropriately designed due to lack of leadership understanding its importance.This has affected the development of the public sector immensely.
ReplyDeleteMy unit in national hospital - Kandy has got laptops, printers and tablets. But the training program to use them is getting delayed painfully for more than an year now. The challenge for the development we have in the public sector.
